Overall Appearance; Choly is your average Quarter Horse stallion. He's a purebred, completely chestnut stallion. No markings, plain mane, ordinary tail. Everything is the same color... much to his dismay. Markings fascinate him, yet he has none. So what does he do to fix this? He finds a horse with markings he wants - wether they're his hide color or not doesn't matter, so long as its a difference in color - and tears it off. This, he sews upon his own body, to give himself markings.
So far, the brute managed to get appaloosa spots to cover his rump, and a stocking on his right foreleg. In his plane and ordinary mane and tail are tassels of other horse's hair, tied in a knot and secured to his own. This adds variety to his own coloration, breaking up the dullness of it, and giving him a unique look - something he very desperatly wants. To say the length of his mane, tail and forelock would be impossible. Other's lengths don't matter to him, the color does, so he has locks down to his knees, dragging the ground, and covering his eyes. His natural mane, tail and forelock, however, are short. His forelock doesn't cover his eyes, his mane doesn't flow from his neck, and his tail is down to his withers. The redundance of it tortures him, and so, he must get other's markings to repair this.
Examining the Mind;
Personality; Though he kills horses for their markings, Choly isn't dark. He's misunderstood, depressed, and archaic, hence the name. Choly was happy once upon a time, in his foalhood, but then, as he grew, he realized how plain he was... even though his plainess was, in itself, unique. He grew to admire markings, and want to have them. It wasn't until he saw a fight and how easily flesh peeled off that he began learning how to place the hide upon himself, giving himself markings.
The markings he 'possessed' were replaced by others as his body grew and changed, and poor Choly began to be lost to the world.
His insanity deepened, becoming a trench too steep for him to find his way back out of. Others deemed him a misfit, unfit for the public eye. He became an outcast, and his mind morphed to suit himself and none other. He became friends with himself, watched out for himself, and depended on himself, all while acquiring new markings along the way. He also sharpened his tactics of putting them on himself - thorns and vines were perfect to sew them into his hide.

Past; Melancholy was no one special, just a normal herd mare's product of rape. He was brought into this world with no significance to the lead, the herd members, or the foals. Only his mother. Choly was the only markingless horse there, and I literally mean markingless. Not even a white hair on him. Because of this, he was an outcast amung the foals. He had to play with me. He grew to envy those with markings, dreamed of having them. When he was three, he left and came back three days later. His mother was happy to see him, he actually looked pleased. Then she noteiced the stench of blood, and made the discovery that caused him to be banished. He'd killed a paint filly, the one who actually allowed him to play with her. He'd peeled her hide off and sewed it to himself, only in patches. So, now, he had overo splashed on a jagged blue roan patch to make himself more unique. His mother was shocked, but snuck him off to escape the wrath of the herd, and he finds himself, of all places here... where he has no hopes of mixing in with a society that favors nothing he has to offer.
